When To Send Out Baby's Birth Announcement | Birth Announcement Etiquette Series
So you're a new or expecting parent - congratulations! In such an exciting time, it can be easy to become overwhelmed when sorting out all the new to-do's - including sending out an announcement for your new addition.
With so many options, it's hard to know what the right choice for you is and what constitutes proper "announcement etiquette" (What should I say? What is the time frame for sending out birth announcements? Should my baby announcement be custom or a template design?)
To kick off the Birth Announcement Etiquette series I'm going to cover the quick basics on when to send out your baby's birth announcement!
I'd say to strive for getting your announcements sent out as quickly as possible - if nothing else, this just helps check one more thing off you to-do list so you can spend more time snuggling that little babe of yours. However, if you're not able to get them out super fast, there's no need to worry! Proper etiquette says you have six whole months to get those announcements out the door. Plus, family and friends are sure to understand you taking a little extra time.
If you want to help the process go a little more quickly, start shopping before baby comes. While you still have a mostly rested mind, take the time to pick out your announcement design and all your finishing options like paper and print method - this gives you less to think about and will make ordering a breeze.
Once Baby makes their grand arrival, send all the necessary info and your stationery studio should be able to get your announcements to you without any hard thinking or decision making on your end!
While your at it, go ahead and figure out who you'll be sending your announcements to and make a master list of addresses beforehand. If you do this and purchase your stamps before baby comes as well, it will help make sending them out even easier - all that's left to do is drop them at the post office!
So there you have it! Sending out your baby announcement shouldn't be stressful - especially when it comes to the time frame for birth announcements. Whether you're a procrastinator or super prepared, you've got time on your side!
